A rapist serving life said yesterday he had been sexually abused by prison officer turned churchman Neville Husband.
The man said the abuse took place when he was a teenager serving a sentence at Medomsley Detention Centre in Consett, County Durham, where Husband ran catering.
He said Husband - who later became a United Reform Church minister after 27 years with the prison service, had targeted him
The witness, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told Newcastle Crown Court Husband at first gave him attention and "made me feel worth something".
But after a few days in the kitchen, Husband whom he described as a "very aggressive, very overpowering person" began to abuse him.
Married Husband, 65, of Snows Green Road, Shotley Bridge, denies 15 counts of indecent assault and one further serious sex offence between 1975 and 1985 relating to six male inmates aged 16 to 19.
The trial continues today.
