Is this the best view in the North East?

Bamburgh Castle

FOR many this view across to Bamburgh Castle is the finest in the region – if not the country.

Janet Street Porter took it as her pick during ITV’s search for find the nation’s favourite view. Asked to reflect on her choice the editor turned TV host said: "As you stand and stare, you’re not just looking at a view, you’re standing in the footsteps of kings."

It is the same swathe of gently rolling Northumberland countryside, dropping onto beaches lapped by sparkling seas, which got Canadian Province Alberta into hot water, when their tourist board couldn’t resist using it on a promotional video.

There’s no doubting views matter, and the North East boasts some of the best. That’s why we’re appealing to Journal readers to help us find the top 10 views in the region.

Perhaps you disagree with Ms Street-Porter and you know of a more idyllic spot hidden somewhere along our coastline.

Perhaps you’re favourite vista lies further inland, hidden in the depths of County Durham, or Northumberland; perhaps its nestled in Hamsterly, or Kielder Forests.

Whatever it is that catches you’re eye we want to hear from you. Register your vote by heading to Journallive.co.uk, or email us with your nomination. The winners will be the scenes with the most votes.

The Journal will publish a definitive set of results as part of our Think North East supplement, coming soon.
