Enjoy discovering county's delights

Andrew Hebden

WHEN TheJournal launched its Think North East First campaign earlier this year, we did so confident this region has an awful lot to offer.

And today we underline that fact through the pages of this publication, a 16-page guide suggesting how you can spend some fabulous days out in Northumberland.

The county is blessed with some of the most stunning scenery in the UK, historic monuments which rank alongside the very best and an array of fabulous attractions and places to eat, drink and stay.

Despite the wealth of what is on offer, Northumberland has long been something of a well kept secret, not just to those who live elsewhere in Britain but even to some of us who live here.

Thats beginning to change as the growing visitor numbers prove. But we think even those familiar with the delights of Northumberland will discover something new about the county in the pages that follow.

By exploring some of the places showcased in this supplement also means youre doing your bit to help the North East economy in this tough economic climate.

We are delighted to be working with Northumberland Tourism and the other supporters of this publication to help promote the region as a brilliant place to spend a day out.

Happy reading and discovering.
