Seb Larsson looking to send Arsenal into bottom three

ARSENAL fan Sebastian Larsson could help send the Gunners into the bottom three this weekend and pile greater pressure on the man who brought him to English football. It is a prospect he is looking forward to.

Having started his Premier League career with Arsène Wenger’s men, the Swedish winger considers himself a fan of the club who tried to re-sign him this summer.

But having opted instead for Sunderland – he decided to join before the Gunners showed any interest – they are now his only priority. With just one victory all season, the Black Cats cannot afford to show any charity on Sunday.

“For this one game I will be more than happy to make that happen,” he said of the prospect of Arsenal entering the relegation zone. “I am just worried about we are doing. We need to start picking up more points. We are not satisfied, but hopeful of what lies ahead.

“There is a lot within the squad and the team. I see it every day and the problem we have had is that we have been too inconsistent.”

Larsson moved to north London as a 16-year-old and, although he made only two Premier League starts before joining Steve Bruce’s Birmingham City, Arsenal remain close to his heart. “I am an Arsenal fan,” he declared. “I want to see them do well. The only team I want to see do well if we are playing is Sunderland. Joining Arsenal was exciting, fantastic and very hard at the same time. The first month just flew by, it was like being on holiday. But when you started getting into the routine it was great. It was tough being away from my family, but when you are 16 you think you are a lot older and mature than you actually are.

“I remember my first ever training session at Arsenal. My coach then was the reserve-team coach now, Neil Banfield. That first day I was a quiet Swedish lad and I was not the most cocky lad around.
