Jordan Henderson looks forward to Denmark match

JORDAN Henderson will not be complaining about tiredness or warning about burnout as he looks leave his mark on the European Under-21 Championships in Denmark next month.

Although ex-Newcastle striker Andy Carroll and Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere have been put under pressure to withdraw from the squad in order to rest this summer, Henderson (pictured left) has no doubts about the benefits of taking part.

Like Wilshere, Henderson has played in virtually every game this season for his club, although the 21-year-old did not have to contend with as many mid-week Champions League clashes, but he still feels the experience he will gain with Stuart Pearce’s squad is vital.

Henderson was one of the stars of the Under-21s’ qualification campaign and is adamant his involvement will benefit both himself and Sunderland.

“I started every game except one and I am grateful to play in every game,” said Henderson, whose form picked up towards the end of the campaign despite a dip at the start of 2011.

“I am not tired, just looking forward to the summer “That’s two big seasons I have had now so I have to be happy with that. I want to continue to progress though, I certainly don’t want to stand still and I

am looking forward to the summer. I got a great experience with England and hopefully I will get my chance again. Once you have tasted it, you just want it more and that’s what I want to do.

“I am feeling fine, I want to go away with the Under-21s and really enjoy it.

“It’s great to go away with the Under-21s and be a part of a group in a big tournament.”
