Summer keeper search for Cats boss Steve Bruce

“He has come back and looked the real deal and is playing extremely well of late.
“He is a calming influence. He is one of those keepers who is not a big, vociferous one, but nothing really ruffles or troubles him.
“I never had reservations about him, I think you just come and want to give everyone a chance. When I came, he was injured at the start of the season and he is one of them who benefits from playing week in, week out.
“I think he played here with injuries last season, when he was half fit and that is one thing that catches up with you in the Premier League. It’s impossible.”
Bruce feels Gordon has benefited from working with the goalkeeping coach who moved with him from Wigan last summer, former Aston Villa keeper Nigel Spink.
He added “He is a smashing lad who wants to learn and do well and I have to give credit to Nigel Spink too. He enjoys working with him. That’s given him confidence too.”
