Andy Reid shows the way to stars on sidelines

THEY should not need any, but if the men who come in from the cold for Sunderland tonight require any extra motivation, Steve Bruce needs only to say two words to them: “Andy Reid”.
After an opening to the season which has largely been spent sitting frustrated on the sidelines, Nyron Nosworthy and Fraizer Campbell are in line for rare starts at home to Aston Villa in the League Cup tonight.
Some managers use the competition to fob reserves off with much-needed match-practice just in case an injury crisis forces them to be called upon by the starting XI.
All will insist opportunities like tonight are a good chance for those on the fringe to prove their worth, but Bruce has been able to back his words up with action.
Having been overlooked for the first three games of the season, Reid was handed a start at Norwich City in round two.
His two goals and man-of-the-match performance earned him a place in the side he is yet to relinquish.
