Lashings of glamour as false lashes are back

They epitomise glamour and now false eyelashes are enjoying their biggest resurgence since the 60s. Liz Lamb finds out more.

Step-by-step guide

HERE’S Ana’s guide to applying perfect false eyelashes.

Step 1: Once you have opened the package use the side of your thumb to slide the lashes away, pushing downwards

Step 2:Use the end of a small brush or a pencil to wrap around the lash to open them out

Step 3: Before applying the glue, measure the lashes against your eyes and if they are too long you will need to cut them from the side where the lashes are the longest

Step 4: Apply glue to the inside of the lashes

Step 5: Leave for a few seconds to allow the glue to get tacky

Step 6: If you are applying them yourself, tilt your head up in the mirror so you can see exactly where to apply them. You can either use your fingers or tweezers to pick up the lashes

Step 7: Hold both ends of the lashes so you control it and apply to the end corner of your eye and then work inwards

Step 8: Hold in place at the inner and upper corner for a few seconds

Step 9: If they are not sticking take your thumb and forefinger and squeeze your own lashes and the false lashes together

Step 10: Finish off with a dark brown or black liner to bridge the gap so it looks natural.
