Jordan set for longer stay with Sky Blues

Jordan Henderson

SUNDERLAND star Jordan Henderson could be set for an extended spell at Coventry City after Chris Coleman revealed his desire to lengthen the 18- year-old's loan period at the Ricoh Arena.

And should the Sky Blues manager get his wish, Henderson could be in line to relive the bittersweet highlight of his career so far.

The midfielder is highly-rated at the Stadium of Light, so much so that Roy Keane thought nothing of pitching him into the cauldron of a 5-0 thrashing at the hands of Chelsea last November.

The youngster made his full first- team debut coming on as a half-time substitute with his side already three goals down.

Intimidating? Perhaps, but the memory will live long and proud with the lad.

And a chance to repair any lasting damage suffered in such a comprehensive defeat may come sooner than he thought.

Should a loan spell he is thoroughly enjoying be extended beyond its initial month, and if Coventry overcome Blackburn Rovers in their FA Cup fifth round replay next week, Henderson would face Chelsea again – in the competition’s quarter finals.
