SUNDERLAND came from behind for their first win of the season at West Bromwich.
The Baggies started the better side and took the lead in the 15th minute with a goal the Sunderland defence disputed for offside.
But the visitors fought back to level six minutes later. Winger Gavin Scott beat his man to centre to the far post were Australian Matthew Fletcher headed back across goal for Liam Hubbock to head in.
The Wearsiders started the second period on the attack and the pressure paid in the 50th minute as Ben Wood lashed home a volley.
Manager Kevin Ball said: “It was a pleasing display and a hard-earned win.”
Sunderland (4-4-1-1): Misicwicz, Cornforth, Madden, Brown, Adams, Scott (Wilson 78), L. Noble, Reed, Fletcher, Wood (Hourihane 66), Hubbock (Galer 66).
