Huddersfield Town U-18s 1, Sunderland U-18s 2

SUNDERLAND kept up the pressure on Nottingham Forest in the FA Academy Premier League with a win at Huddersfield.

The hosts took the lead on 25 minutes when Sunderland failed to clear a Huddersfield corner. But the visitors improved and could have had two penalties when Jordan Cooke was pulled down in the area and a handball claim followed.

The Black Cats equalised on half time after a solo run by Jordan Henderson, who cut in from the left, slipped around two home defenders and slotted the ball passed the keeper.

Sunderland continued to press Huddersfield and took the lead on 68 minutes when Nathan Luscombe beat two defenders on the left and let fly a screamer into the corner of the net, giving the keeper no chance.

The hosts had a couple of chances to pull level, but the young Wearsiders held firm to take all three points.

SUNDERLAND UNDER-18s: Hunter; Kay, Liddle, Noble (Cornforth 89), Donoghue, Brown, Scott, Chandler (Colback 60), Cook, Henderson, Galer (Luscombe 55). Subs (not used): McArdle.
