Would you forgive Mike Ashley if Newcastle were promoted?
Yes 6%
No 94%
Your comments:
Oct 28, 2009 12:06 PM Promotion would simply get us back to where we were before he started meddling, but after going through untold amounts of hurt. I want him out.
Oct 28, 2009 12:07 PM Because Hughton is not set out to be a Premiership Manager and with little or no it would be a long season ahead.
Oct 28, 2009 12:09 PM He has caused to much damage. Needs to go
Oct 28, 2009 12:09 PM He has just done so much damage.
Oct 28, 2009 12:09 PM i hate the fat cunt.
Oct 28, 2009 12:10 PM doensnt change anything on the way hes running the club!!!
Oct 28, 2009 12:10 PM Too little too late
Oct 28, 2009 12:10 PM Yes if he starts doing things right and getting in football people to run the club
Oct 28, 2009 12:12 PM Fat prick
Oct 28, 2009 12:13 PM I would never forgive ashley for whay he has done to Newcastle. I have actively supported Newcastle for 59 years and things have NEVER been as bad
Oct 28, 2009 12:13 PM I would forgive him all of his crimes to date (of which there are many), if he were to start running this club how we all know it should it be run i.e. not treating it like a toy.
Oct 28, 2009 12:13 PM Absolutley not. Hes only in it for selfish reasons
Oct 28, 2009 12:14 PM depends on what he does and how they gained promotion
Oct 28, 2009 12:14 PM the way KK was sold down the river will mean he is always reviled
Oct 28, 2009 12:14 PM dont think one nufc fan could ever forgive such a lying cheating b.....d as fat pie ashley
Oct 28, 2009 12:15 PM Because we'll come crashing straight back down again.
Oct 28, 2009 12:15 PM Only if he comes out again admitting he did wrong and he is willing to listen to the fans and footballing minds. If he stays the same stubborn self then I will wish him well when he leaves next season.
Oct 28, 2009 12:16 PM Forgive Ashley? Don't know if this could ever be done; there's a lot of damage. Would help if he appointed a board beneath him (North-East people) that would run the club... he could just turn up at the games, however, this will never happen as it's his toy.. Nah, f*ck him - get him out.
Oct 28, 2009 12:17 PM Nope, he we have lost our player assets so will fail to stay up. Might get less points than the Mackems
Oct 28, 2009 12:17 PM Not chance. He wouldn't have contributed to the promotion in the slightest. All we need is a few extra players and he won't give us that.
Oct 28, 2009 12:17 PM He doesn't deserve forgiveness.
Oct 28, 2009 12:17 PM no done to much damage to be forgiven and doesn't deserve to be either with his recent comments
Oct 28, 2009 12:18 PM If he backs NUFC yes.
Oct 28, 2009 12:18 PM Forgive him for what? He has been bank rolling the club for almost two years to the sum of 120 million. What would have happened if he did not buy the club? I dread to think! Our problem is he has continued to make poor appointments and i fear that Chris Hughton is yet another.
Oct 28, 2009 12:18 PM Never ever
Oct 28, 2009 12:18 PM We wouldn't be in this position if it wasn't for Ashley. We had a team that needed strengthening and a manager in Keegan that although not everyones choice would have attracted decent players if left to get on with his job, 14 Months on . . . .
Oct 28, 2009 12:18 PM For what? The lies (admitted in court), the treatment of fans, ex managers, for giving us Joe Kinnear, for his transfer windows, for making us a laughing stock, for relegation? No..never.
Oct 28, 2009 12:18 PM Well only if it means he sells us but that is the only time I will ever forgive him and it would be more about moving on than being forgiven.
Oct 28, 2009 12:19 PM to many mistakes have built bad feeling towards him, with all the asses stripping that has taken place if we get promoted we will almost certainly get relegated straight away and i'm sure if we do get promoted that we will see the for sale flags flying from the gallowgate once again, but this time at a much higher price, this will confirm what all fans believe ashley only has love for one thing - money - his greed drives him, money controls his soul
Oct 28, 2009 12:19 PM I will never forgive him. I was a season ticket holder for 32 years, but no more. Ashley has destroyed any enjoyment i used to get from supporting my team. That won't change if we're promoted. Even if we are promoted without significant investment this team will be straight back down, and that investment won't happen. It's about time the north east press started to ask the hard questions of this administration.
Oct 28, 2009 12:20 PM I can't forgive someone who is selling the name of our stadium, disrespected one of our greatest heroes, signed a player for financial and commercial reasons, got us relegated and continually and intenionlly mislead and lied to the fans and the media.
Oct 28, 2009 12:21 PM Never in a million years - his only shot at redemption is via his actions and so far every one has been to destroy his relationship with the fans
Oct 28, 2009 12:21 PM to many mistakes have been made and he simply dosent learn from the mistakes he has made before, if we got promoted we would be in the same scenario we are now as Mr Ashley will not spend any of the money he gets on playing staff
Oct 28, 2009 12:22 PM Never
Oct 28, 2009 12:23 PM Hell would freeze over before any respecting Geordie would forgive this man for what he has done to the club , fans , city and our heroes !!!
Oct 28, 2009 12:24 PM It was his attitude of lets sell all the best players and not replace then that got us relegated in the first place. So no i do not feel i could ever forgive such a deceitful man
Oct 28, 2009 12:24 PM He has done too much
Oct 28, 2009 12:24 PM Never
Oct 28, 2009 12:24 PM Didn't blame him to start with. Ask the players what they did on the pitch. That is where it was lost
Oct 28, 2009 12:24 PM I will never forgive that man
Oct 28, 2009 12:24 PM No,we will have got promoted despite him,not because of him.by the way,you should pass all these surveys to him
Oct 28, 2009 12:25 PM 2.5 years of smoke and mirrors is enough.
Oct 28, 2009 12:25 PM Only if he were dead.
Oct 28, 2009 12:25 PM This one is a joke, correct? He ( and Liarbambas - who is unbelievably even worse ) should be thrown out of the club without any compensation for failing to meet the supposed " fit and proper persons to run a football club" requirement. Then put the club up for auction and get a proper management team on board.
Oct 28, 2009 12:26 PM the damage has been done
Oct 28, 2009 12:26 PM Any promotion gained would be in spite of Ashley's efforts, not as a result of them
Oct 28, 2009 12:27 PM He will go down in history as the man that destroyed our club , even the fluke of promotion will not change this as it is going to take years to recover and he has not got the will or abilty to do it
Oct 28, 2009 12:28 PM He will never be able to do enough to repair the damage that his personal involvement in NUFC has caused for 50,000 people week in week out and millions more who love and support NUFC. The only decent thing he can do is foxtrot off!
Oct 28, 2009 12:29 PM I wouldn't forgive Mike Ashley if he cured third world hunger.
Oct 28, 2009 12:30 PM No No NO. He has lied to the people on a continual basis and treated everybody at theclub with total disregard. The lies of Llambias, Wise and of course Asley cannot be forgiven. He needs to go and the sooner the better but Moat is not the answer. The club needs serious investment.
Oct 28, 2009 12:31 PM Too many mistakes, but does it matter if we forgive? We just want a happy and successful club
Oct 28, 2009 12:31 PM It would take alot more than the team being promoted to forgive this man. What about an apology for the lies to the fans??
Oct 28, 2009 12:31 PM Not a geuine person - deserves no respect as either chairman, businessman or person.
Oct 28, 2009 12:32 PM No, never, not a chance. If we are to get promoted, it would be in the face of everything he has done. He could buy Rooney, Gerrard and Terry tomorrow and still I would want him out.
Oct 28, 2009 12:33 PM We need an owner with the best interests o fthe club at heart
Oct 28, 2009 12:33 PM he has done the damage and is now making it worse.
Oct 28, 2009 12:34 PM You cant forgive someone who lies to the fans and they only communication the fans get from the club is when they want more money
Oct 28, 2009 12:34 PM too much damage has been done now. he should have brought in a better PR management team earlier on, then it would have been damage limitation. the fans now hate him, and no matter what decision he makes will be viewed by the fans as an out and out attack on them. the bloke has a death wish and his timing skills are out the window.
Oct 28, 2009 12:34 PM NEVER
Oct 28, 2009 12:35 PM Nothing can forgive what he has put the club and the fans through
Oct 28, 2009 12:35 PM Mike Ashley whilst a bad owner, particularly in his PR, he is no worse than the previous regime who made a fortune out of the club having invested significantly less than Ashley. Using the fans/clubs money to buy big name players like Owen, whilst placating the fans, has resulted in us being where we are today.
Oct 28, 2009 12:36 PM Proven liar and dodgy character. ask people in the "City" and the Serious Fraud squad. PS/... BEWARE OF MACKEM INFILTRATORS ON THIS POLL. WORD HAS ALREADY GOT OUT ON THE SMB BOARD ABOUT FILLING PRO ASHLEY ANSWERS IN.
Oct 28, 2009 12:36 PM Too much water under bridges - horses bolting - straws breaking camels' backs - once bitten - fingers burnt- etc etc
Oct 28, 2009 12:37 PM The Man Is A Joke
Oct 28, 2009 12:37 PM NEVER
Oct 28, 2009 12:38 PM Too much water under the bridge now.I was prepared to forget after the Keegan incident (before the tribunal) but its just been one kick in the teeth after another
Oct 28, 2009 12:39 PM hate him with a passion.
Oct 28, 2009 12:40 PM because he has shown the fans etc with contempt.
Oct 28, 2009 12:41 PM it's his fault we're there in the first place. I'd never trust Mike Ashley again, he broke that trust along time ago, not to mention he employs people like Llambias.
Oct 28, 2009 12:41 PM Ashley all but ruined the club and made it a laughing stock
Oct 28, 2009 12:41 PM Never. The man is a moron.
Oct 28, 2009 12:41 PM Ashley doesnt care if we forgive him or not. He will sell Newcastle united as soon as a decent offer is made, then disappear as fast as he came.
Oct 28, 2009 12:41 PM Absoutely not - never will I forgive that man for everything thats gone on previously, hes past the point of no return!!
Oct 28, 2009 12:42 PM I never will. He has no integrity. He is in fact an absolute disgrace.
Oct 28, 2009 12:44 PM Never, ever ever and nor will anyone i know. Get out of our club.
Oct 28, 2009 12:45 PM We' likely struggle again as his decision making is shocking.
Oct 28, 2009 12:46 PM Not in a million years and anybody who would needs their head examined.
Oct 28, 2009 12:46 PM i would forgive mike ashley if he employed the right manager, stood by him, invested in the team (not just loan signings - but some with passion for the club), and kept out of transfer dealings. Oh and stopped lying to the fans.
Oct 28, 2009 12:47 PM I will never forgive Mike Ashley for what he has done to this club
Oct 28, 2009 12:48 PM only plus is that it would appear sale of club has been put on back burner now but could come back to scupper any pre season planning next summer if he were to put it back on market if promoted.
Oct 28, 2009 12:48 PM he should get out of toon
Oct 28, 2009 12:48 PM Never
Oct 28, 2009 12:48 PM I might consider forgiving Mike Ashley when he is six feet deep.
Oct 28, 2009 12:48 PM Promotion's the least he can do. However, I can see the pain and misery continuing while he's in charge (unless he completely changes his spots).
Oct 28, 2009 12:49 PM Absolutely not, after all he has done to the disgrace this region
Oct 28, 2009 12:49 PM Success changes a lot of opinions. He wasn't exactly smart last season. However, I can remember Keegan, after much success walking away from club in the past and not just last season(when he had just cause). Dennis Wise and company were a monumental mistake.
Oct 28, 2009 12:49 PM Not a chance, its his fualt we are in this mess to start with.
Oct 28, 2009 12:49 PM I think he's set the club back about 20 years, to be honest. All of the goodwill from the Keegan and Robson years has now gone and we will be stuck in Premiership midtable (at best) for years to come.
Oct 28, 2009 12:50 PM He has dragged our name down so much, he would have to get us into the top 4 and REGULAR Champions League before forgiveness.
Oct 28, 2009 12:50 PM Lets judge him on the future which starts now!
Oct 28, 2009 12:51 PM He can not be trusted
Oct 28, 2009 12:52 PM I will never forgive Ashley for what he is has done to our club
Oct 28, 2009 12:52 PM never
Oct 28, 2009 12:53 PM No way there is too much water under the bridge to the point where I despise the man for what he has done. I simply do not trust him, his MD or his motives.
Oct 28, 2009 12:54 PM Realistically, he is to blame for the sad train of events which have led to us being relegated in the first place.
Oct 28, 2009 12:55 PM No. Even if the club were to be promoted they do not have a strong enough base to build on in the Premier League and would come straight back down again. Ashley has fatally weakened the whole structure of the club. There is no sign of any long term planning or vision, no attempt to integrate with the local community and more importantly no clear communication strategy.
Oct 28, 2009 12:55 PM I don't think Ashley will ever be forgiven by the majority here now. Everybody makes mistakes. I could never begrudge someone the chance to make a mistake if they learn from it. To make mistakes, admit the mistakes, lie to cover them up, then make the same mistakes again, and again, and again, seems more malicious than accidental to me. He knows what he is doing, and he continues to do it. Please leave before it's too late, for you and for us.
Oct 28, 2009 12:55 PM The man is unforgivable!
Oct 28, 2009 12:56 PM Absolutely not, if it was not for him we would not have got relegated in the 1st place,
Oct 28, 2009 12:57 PM see above. Is not mike ashley who's the main reason to made us relegated last year ?
Oct 28, 2009 12:57 PM It is 100% down to the manager coach, and players if we get promoted.
Oct 28, 2009 12:57 PM Some scars do not heal.
Oct 28, 2009 12:57 PM Absolutely not because it was his fault we are in this mess in the first place. I would like to bet that if we do get promoted he will once again try and sell, but lumping the ridiculous price tag of 400 million. Needless to say it won't sell.
Oct 28, 2009 12:58 PM Newcastle should be strong enough to win promotion but despite of Ashley not because of him. And if it wasn't for his ineptitude we wouldn't be playing Championship football and need to win promotion in the first place.
Oct 28, 2009 12:59 PM I will never forgive him
Oct 28, 2009 1:01 PM Will never forgive Ashley for what he has done to this great club
Oct 28, 2009 1:03 PM Bringing Keegan back was a master stroke. Not giving him the freedom to do the job in the way that had brought spectacular success previously was incredibly stupid, and ultimately disastrous. Why on earth would you back Wise's judgement over Keegan's?
Oct 28, 2009 1:07 PM He can never EVER be forgiven for the way he has lied/manipulated/mislead the fans.
Oct 28, 2009 1:07 PM A season in the Championship would still have happened, not so long ago I was convinced that we would never see our club outside of the top flight again, with the gulf between the bigger Premier League clubs and the Championship being so big, but under Ashley's stewardship we have fallen from grace, and even promotion would see us a long way off challenging at the top of the table and competing in European football, so the effects would linger on.
Oct 28, 2009 1:07 PM Allowing Chris Mort to leave was the biggest mistake of his ownership.
Oct 28, 2009 1:08 PM He had his chance to apologise and he blew it. At least twice.
Oct 28, 2009 1:08 PM Throughout his ownership of NUFC, he has constantly made bad decisions that have affected the club. I blame him completely for the state we are in now and he continues to repeat his mistakes. We have wasted almost 6 months on the non-sale of the club where he has put all decision-making on hold. Are we to go through the same thing next year damaging any chance of staying in the Premier League. How can you forgive someone who does not communicate with the supporters, openly shows his contempt for them as well as being proved to lie. How can we ever believe a word this regime says. They will never regain any credibility.
Oct 28, 2009 1:09 PM i wouldnt forgive Mike ashley if we won the Champions league. He has dragged this club throught he dirt & it will take years to recover.
Oct 28, 2009 1:11 PM The quicker he gets out of town the better.Too many bad decisions.
Oct 28, 2009 1:11 PM What he has done to the Club and the fans is unforgivable!
Oct 28, 2009 1:12 PM He's failed at every major opportunity to change this club for the better including his main aim of bringing through top youngsters from the academy as he's failed to ensure that a good manager and coaches are in charge of the team at all levels who are well backed to provide the stable and well nurtured environment that would see these youngsters develop into the types of players that will make that much needed difference to our future.
Oct 28, 2009 1:13 PM No, see question 5
Oct 28, 2009 1:13 PM Never in a million years.
Oct 28, 2009 1:14 PM could never forgive him for what he as done to our once proud football club
Oct 28, 2009 1:14 PM I would forgive Mike Ashley if he stopped gambling with the future of the club and set up a structure that included knowledge and experience of how to run a football club. This should be sustainable and have a long term strategy for progression - regardless if we are promoted or not.
Oct 28, 2009 1:15 PM No because in all honesty it was his fault we were relagated ,i would like to think if we do acheive promotion he will put us back on the market because if he dosent i can see us becoming the West Brom if not Leeds.
Oct 28, 2009 1:15 PM Absolutely no chance.
Oct 28, 2009 1:15 PM he has took newcastle so far down that it will take years to rebuild
Oct 28, 2009 1:18 PM I will never forgive him, he has almost destroyed everything we ever stood for. If we do get promoted it will be thanks to the players and manager, Mike Ashley has nothing to do with it. I feel that we are lucky our players are managing to carry on and ignore all the unsettlement in the club.
Oct 28, 2009 1:18 PM In my opinion it was he who nearly ruined this club, and could still do so should we fail to gain promotion and significant investment from him or other external sources. We should not be in a position where we are having to be promoted, we should be in a position where we are looking at breaking into European club competitions and having successful league and cup runs in matches against the top teams. What he has done to the reputation of of this once great football club and footballing city, and to the fans who he has forced the greatest most expressions of anger out of, and to the reputations of great footballing legends like Kevin Keegan, has been totally unacceptable and unforgiveable. Mike Ashley shall never be forgiven. He made mistakes in appointing Dennis Wise and co and his general running of the club. He had numerous chances to change this, and he failed to do so every time. For many years at St James' Park we had a 'God' in Alan Shearer. Mike Ashley must therefore surely be seen as nothing else, but 'The Devil'.
Oct 28, 2009 1:19 PM if we do get promoted we'll be back up for sale again just for more cash. It'll be another rubbish summer of lies and misdirection.
Oct 28, 2009 1:19 PM The sooner he goes the better. All I wanted was honesty - he does not appear capable of that!
Oct 28, 2009 1:20 PM That man will never ever be forgiven. Even if we win the league
Oct 28, 2009 1:20 PM No, if we get promoted it will be inspite of Mike Ashley not thanks to him. He has systematically asset stripped this football club, culmanating with yesterdays announcement to sell the naming rights of the ground.
Oct 28, 2009 1:21 PM it will take more than just promotion to forget but if a decent transfer amount was given or alan shearer appointed this will go toward forgivness
Oct 28, 2009 1:21 PM It was his inept handling of affairs and appointments which resulted in relegation.
Oct 28, 2009 1:22 PM No, because the club cannot move on until this proven liar (see the adjudication on the Keegan tribunal) and his cohorts have left the club. We are going nowhere fast under this regime, and the casual disregard he has shown for the reputation of the football club, the debt the club owes men like Keegan, and his contempt for the fans means that he should not be forgiven
Oct 28, 2009 1:22 PM This man who is nothing more than a cancer to the club. He knows he will not be forgiven. the guy has not got a clue, and as far as i am concerned the sooner the scum is gone the better.
Oct 28, 2009 1:23 PM It would not be any of his doing and he'd probably put us on the market again with a larger asking price.
Oct 28, 2009 1:24 PM He has done nothing to warrant any forgiveness thus far and I can not see it changing
Oct 28, 2009 1:24 PM No, but I might sing the "get out of our club" song less than nowadays.
Oct 28, 2009 1:25 PM He has been dire from the beginning. Goodness knows how he managed to amass his fortune, he has no idea how to run a business.
Oct 28, 2009 1:29 PM That man has taken us from being a bit of joke now and again, and the victim of other supporters jibes, to the point where other clubs actually pity us.
Oct 28, 2009 1:29 PM Not at all. The man is a grade A Muppet. He hasn't got a clue and should be dragged out onto Barrack Road and executed publicly.
Oct 28, 2009 1:30 PM Is he a football fan? Did he buy NUFC for the love of the club? Does he understand the club/region/supporters? NO! He's a business man and he's in it for the money first and foremost. I'm sure like any bloke he enjoys watching the game and downing the odd pint but he has been incredibly naive in his running of the club and the appointments he's made. I would forgive him if he stood aside and let someone who knows what they are doing take over. He's welcome to plough his cash into the club but please, don't let the likes of Llambias or Wise tell him how to spend it.
Oct 28, 2009 1:30 PM Even if we got promoted, we still wouldn't be as strong a club as we were before he took over. We had a proven manager and a number of good players such as Owen, Milner, Given, Martins, Emre, Beye and Duff who have since left the club.
Oct 28, 2009 1:31 PM Even with promotion we are a milion miles away from what he took over, not to mention that contempt he has shown for the people of Newcastle. His position is irredeemable.
Oct 28, 2009 1:31 PM Just leave
Oct 28, 2009 1:31 PM I don't have anything to forgive him for
Oct 28, 2009 1:32 PM If we do get promotion the main reason for celebrating is it improves the chances of him selling up.The sooner we can rid the club of this strange man the better.
Oct 28, 2009 1:32 PM I will never forgive Ashley, no matter what he does. He has made far too many bad decisions and he has had plenty of chances to get the fans on his side, but he just keeps throwing up something new that makes me realise how much I can't stand the bloke. He just seems to be doing things to hit fans where it hurts.
Oct 28, 2009 1:32 PM If we get promoted it will be luck, he can never be forgiven for what he done to the club.
Oct 28, 2009 1:33 PM I'll never forgive him for what he has done, however they are in the past, if he is true to his word and wants to move forward for the benefit only of NUFC then I can put things aside, but I don't think any fans will forgive him after what came out of the recent tribunal.
Oct 28, 2009 1:34 PM I would never forgive what he has done to our club.
Oct 28, 2009 1:34 PM Once bitten, twice shy.
Oct 28, 2009 1:35 PM who does this southern tosser think he is ? ive neer heard such crap in my life.sorry but words fail me.can we not get rid of this fat southern clown .he is a waste of oxygen
Oct 28, 2009 1:35 PM But that is not going to happen, to be honest I think we Geordies are just not good enough to be in the premiership with team's that are far superior.
Oct 28, 2009 1:38 PM He's made massive errors of judgement and unfortunately shows no sign of learning from them. Promotion will hopefully allow him to sell the club to a buyer with a bit more understanding of how to run a football club, and bring an end to both his and our nightmare.
Oct 28, 2009 1:40 PM It's not much of an achievment winning promotion with a squad of players, most of who have years and years worth of Premiership experience, played international football and on wages of £40,000 - £60,000. The team should be getting promoted, if they don't every single one of the players, staff and owners should be embarrasses.
Oct 28, 2009 1:42 PM No. Never.
Oct 28, 2009 1:45 PM He's completely deluded and seems to be living in his own little world. Will never be forgiven by me after what came out during the Keegan hearing.
Oct 28, 2009 1:47 PM he has admitted his mistakes and as long as they arnt repeated then everyone deservs a chance. (in every day life prople make mistakes just not so public)
Oct 28, 2009 1:49 PM Ashley has proven himself to be completely incapable of running a football club. It doesn't take much sense to realise that if you don't have the knowledge to do a job you should at least employ that knowledge. Instead he has hired a casino manager? The man reeks of stupidity. He is clueless to what is required to get Newcastle Utd to where it should be and clearly knows nothing about the club or city (past or present). I am continually flabbergasted by the things he seems to believe to be good ideas.
Oct 28, 2009 1:49 PM From what I can see so far if we were promoted then very little is down to him, the team and the coaching staff would deserve the plaudits for doing it despite Mike Ashley being there rather than because he was there
Oct 28, 2009 1:50 PM What difference does it make. We've been a laughing stock since he arrived.
Oct 28, 2009 1:55 PM Never
Oct 28, 2009 1:58 PM If promoted the club would need to further invest in players and given this idiots record on the lack of investment in quality players, could only see us as relegation candidates, no disrespect for the few premier quality players in the current squad, but you would need to spend some serious cash to bring the squad up to a decent enough standard to compete against some of the teams in the premier
Oct 28, 2009 1:59 PM No comment needed.
Oct 28, 2009 2:01 PM Too late. NEVER - not for what he's done to this club. If he'd run the club correctly and honestly we would have still been in the top flight and not among football's also rans.
Oct 28, 2009 2:04 PM He has never acted openly or honestly.
Oct 28, 2009 2:04 PM He is one of the biggest reasons we went down in the first place!
Oct 28, 2009 2:05 PM Mike Ashley thinks he is a brilliant salesperson & football manager. But he just keeps on hurting the fans with every single moves. Ban him from Newcastle for life!
Oct 28, 2009 2:06 PM no hes done his best to ruin it!
Oct 28, 2009 2:10 PM Ashley has made too many mistakes, and clearly doesn't care about the history of the club or its supporters.
Oct 28, 2009 2:13 PM After what he's put the fans and the city through you must be joking! Not to mention the players, KK, Big Al, Barry Moat, Chris Hughton even, etc etc
Oct 28, 2009 2:15 PM What Ashley has done is unforgivable. I wouldn't forgive him if we won the premier league (i might start going back to SJP though)
Oct 28, 2009 2:17 PM No. If he got us promoted, leaves it as SJP, puts Shearer in charge, invests money into the club and stays out of Shearers way and lets him do it his way, then i'd consider it in a few years time if success comes. Only way is if he fixes all the damage he has done and takes us higher than we have been before and we win trophies... under Ashley we are 90% more likely to do a Leeds
Oct 28, 2009 2:17 PM No. If he had invested properly and not messed about with Keegan we would still be in the Premier League. We wouldn't have got relegated last season if Keegan hadn't left so early in the season and we had used the transfer windows to buy players not just to sell them. Then again, if Ashley hadn't bought the club in the first place we could have gone into administration a couple of years ago. I think what he has done and how he has run the club is unforgiveable. He doesn't understand that Newcastle Utd is the life and soul of the City and is part of a way of life. His lack of experience in football is not an excuse for the way he has run the club.
Oct 28, 2009 2:22 PM he's gone way too far,no-one can be that mallicious and get away with it - either that or he is clearly deluded. Ok, maybe both.
Oct 28, 2009 2:32 PM He got rid of KK, deffo not. Newcastle will get promoted but it'll be due to there great performances. I hope nobody leaves in January and we continue our good run of games.
Oct 28, 2009 2:39 PM respect needs to be earned
Oct 28, 2009 2:43 PM Mike Ashley has handled NUFC and its fans in the most amateurish and disrespectfull way possible, I find it difficult to imagine him ever becoming a credible/revered owner of NUFC.
Oct 28, 2009 2:55 PM Worst thing that has happened to NUFC EVER!
Oct 28, 2009 3:08 PM What's MA done to support the promotion push, then? If we get promoted it'll be by fluke rather than design. Forgiving MA would be like forgiving your wife for cheating on you because she gave you a crash-damaged Fiat Punto she won in a raffle.
Oct 28, 2009 3:11 PM He'll never be forgiven by the vast majority of newcastle fans for the shame he's brought on us and the way we've been treated. not to mention all the lies which were proved in a court.
Oct 28, 2009 3:15 PM Ashley seeks promotion only so he can offload Newcastle at a higher price. If we are promoted, it will be at the lowest possible cost to Ashley. NUFC's assets have already been decimated. He would never win forgiveness for what he has already done.
Oct 28, 2009 3:18 PM If it wasn't for him they wouldn't have gone down in the first place
Oct 28, 2009 3:22 PM After what he has done to club. Consider our reputation before he arrived and what it is now, would any serious top professionals come to Newcastle United with Ashley in charge? I think not.
Oct 28, 2009 3:26 PM He burnt his bridges months ago.
Oct 28, 2009 3:34 PM NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NENER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER ETC ETC ETC.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Oct 28, 2009 3:36 PM No the club should never have been relegated in the first place but for his mismanagment.
Oct 28, 2009 3:36 PM It may go part way to forgiveness, but he wouldn't have played any part in the promotion.
Oct 28, 2009 3:37 PM Again this has to be qualified. He has set about the finances in an orderly, if unpleasant manner and has to have credit for that. Again more planning is vital if promotion is be certain.
Oct 28, 2009 3:42 PM he has torn the heart out of the club with crass mismanagement but whilst not forgiving him i will forget in time .
Oct 28, 2009 3:48 PM It wont make any differance
Oct 28, 2009 3:53 PM Thanks and him and his cockney cohorts we are now in the position we are in
Oct 28, 2009 3:53 PM No because he demoted us in the first place.
Oct 28, 2009 4:05 PM He has made thos club a laughing stock. Treated two Geordie legends with complete and utter distain. Out Out Out.
Oct 28, 2009 4:06 PM Never. Promotion would be in spite of him not because of him.
Oct 28, 2009 4:10 PM We have a small squad ripped apart by ashley, getting out of a terrible division should be expected. We would need to spend a fortune to stay in the premier league never mind compete.
Oct 28, 2009 4:11 PM No, but he could be remembered for finally seeing the errors of the last two years. Remember, he had many of the right ideas to start with. Bringing in Keagan was a master stroke, building up the young player base great. What he needs now that he has opted to stay on is tact, honesty and to bring on board the fans point of view. If I were advising him I would offer a seat on his board to NUST and put their 20m into new players in Jan. That would be a great sign for the future.
Oct 28, 2009 4:13 PM He has no clue how to run a football club - and has already admitted so. He has also been proved to be a liar and misleading the fans at KK's tribunal. He hasn't changed and won't be any different if we are promoted
Oct 28, 2009 4:17 PM ashley is a sad pathetic man who bought newcastle for,in his own words, ''a bit of fun''.the man has not a shred of dignity or respect in the football world.i will not be back until he has gone.
Oct 28, 2009 4:25 PM Any promotion would clearly be in spite of this wretched man, not because of him. His football knowledge is non-existant, his man-management skills even less, and quite how he made his fortune remains a mystery to me .
Oct 28, 2009 4:28 PM Alas the man has wrecked so much havoc on our club, made so many unforgivable mistakes and shown so little ambition that a team promoted under ashley would come straight back down again because he is unable/unwilling to invest at the required level
Oct 28, 2009 4:31 PM He has never shown any affection for the club the fans or the area,he has no idea how the fans feel about Newcastle or their love of football.
Oct 28, 2009 4:31 PM He got us in this mess in the first place. Too much has happened to forgive him.
Oct 28, 2009 4:35 PM Its not about relegation from the Premier League anymore. You wouldnt allow your landlord to rape and pillage from your home just because they own it. Its time for "Captain Useless" to pack up and **** off. Its a sorry state when football is about money. Its time fottball clubs were run by football people.
Oct 28, 2009 4:35 PM Whether we get promoted or not Ashley has done too much damage to be forgiven.
Oct 28, 2009 4:36 PM I don't think foregiveness is really relevant. This mess is partly the result of the personality cult including KK through no fault of his own.
Oct 28, 2009 4:39 PM Never. From EPL to Championship club in one season is a landmark achievement. *with a tinge of scarcasm*
Oct 28, 2009 4:39 PM For the damage this man has done to our team, our club, our heroes and the region he should never be forgiven. In the midst of all this let us not also forget that the fat Shopkeeper and LyingBias could not even bother themselves to pay their respects at Durham Cathedral for SBR. They treat everything to do with Newcastle United with the utmost contempt.
Oct 28, 2009 4:39 PM He's a gambler pure and simple. He's gambled by selling our better players and by appointing Hughton. If it comes off he'll continue to gamble with out Premiership future. The man has shown in his football decisions, he loses more often than he wins.
Oct 28, 2009 4:40 PM This is not about the relegation any more, nor is it even the lack of proper investment from Mike. This is about selling the roots of this club and running it like one of his fledgeling businesses. Clearance sales, cost-cutting and short changing the people who love this club is despicable behaviour from a man who has constantly portrayed us as ungrateful and unrealistic and himself as just a normal fella' who loves football. Even if we do get promoted, Mike will never be forgiven. The worst thing that has happened to my club in my lifetime is this takeover and everything that has gone with it and as long as it continues we can expect similar stunts like the one he has pulled today.
Oct 28, 2009 4:45 PM He has again dragged this club through the mire and lied to us.
Oct 28, 2009 4:47 PM No going back
Oct 28, 2009 4:48 PM what he had done to the club has been unforgivable. And I think even if we won the FA cup people would still want him out the club. 2 years ago we thought the club had hit rock bottom, but as every week goes by Ashley seems to twist the knife a bit more.
Oct 28, 2009 4:59 PM The fans behavior at the Hull game a year ago cost us that game and the equivalent of 6 points compared with Hull who stayed up by 1 point.
Oct 28, 2009 5:05 PM Never ever. He should take his motley crew, particularly the bingo hall caller Llambias and Hughton as well and stay in the South East where he belongs.
Oct 28, 2009 5:22 PM If NUFC gain promotion it'll be with a great deal of good luck and hard work from the players and coaches. The corporate management at NUFC are shocking, they've succeeded in steering the club from one disaster to another.
Oct 28, 2009 5:32 PM He's the reason we were relegated so why would we forgive him if we get promoted?
Oct 28, 2009 5:40 PM Forgive him for what? Be more specific. Would I forgive him for getting us relegated? No. Would I forgive him for incompetence? No. Would at the journal forgive him for playing you like suckers if we got promoted?
Oct 28, 2009 5:42 PM I wouldn't, coz we'll just come straight back down due to him ot investing in the first team
Oct 28, 2009 5:50 PM See Q1
Oct 28, 2009 5:50 PM i would never forgive that man as long as i live
Oct 28, 2009 5:50 PM He should go sooner rather than later. If promoted he will be looking for a higher price, I feel the people who care about the Magpies are being treated unkindly and as fools.
Oct 28, 2009 6:01 PM I will never forgive him for what his done because before he arrived we were a solid Premiership club that never looked like going down, his made wrong turn after wrong turn and if he gets lucky and we get promoted he does not deserve any credit therefore i should not forgive him
Oct 28, 2009 6:05 PM though we have nothing to forgive him for, he saved our club, we were almost bankrupt when Mr Ashley took over, God praise the man.
Oct 28, 2009 6:06 PM Mike Ashley has managed to put a once great club on its knees, he will never be forgiven for what he has done.
Oct 28, 2009 6:07 PM I think too much water has run under my bridge for that. He has lost my trust a long time ago. I am prepared to forgive if he demonstrates commitment and development of the team over time..say 5 years!!
Oct 28, 2009 6:12 PM I'd forgive him if he died
Oct 28, 2009 6:14 PM A lot of things Mike has done are unforgiveable and if he and his pals would let the manager get on with it and not interfere perhaps we can agree to some forgiveness.
Oct 28, 2009 6:25 PM Never! Never! Never! Ashley seems to try and devalue everything we do at every step, so i f we somehow get promoted it will be despite his efforts not because of them. he remains a poison at the club.
Oct 28, 2009 6:27 PM he has already ruined our club
Oct 28, 2009 6:28 PM The damage has already been done , treatment of KK & Shearer saw to that , communication & treatment of the fans is a joke.
Oct 28, 2009 6:49 PM He can never be forgiven for what he has done to this proud club. It will forever be there
Oct 28, 2009 6:52 PM i dont think i have anything to fogive him for yes hes made mistakes and like everyone hopefully he has learned from them,,its just sad that more people cant see that all he wants is to give us a football team that can go forward into the future
Oct 28, 2009 6:59 PM It would be more luck than judgement if we were promoted, and entirely inspite of anything the board are currently doing. Even if we did make it i cant see any way in which the situation is viable long term and surely we would suffer in the same way we did last term. Building for the future and stability is what i want now.
Oct 28, 2009 7:06 PM He got us relegated and he is trying to screw us at every opportunity. Forgive? Are you smoking pot?
Oct 28, 2009 7:13 PM If he stays in charge we will at best be a yo-yo club.. He can never be trusted and has no respect for the geordies or our club!
Oct 28, 2009 7:17 PM because if he had,nt have brought wise in we would still be in the premiership
Oct 28, 2009 7:21 PM Never the players will get us promoted and would deserve a medal for doing so under this present nightmare.
Oct 28, 2009 7:23 PM Not a chance, since hes been here theres been no steps forward and about 100 back. Not good enough!!!
Oct 28, 2009 7:29 PM The sooner Ashely is out, the better. Any success the club has will not be due to him, but to the commitment of the players, the staff and the fans.
Oct 28, 2009 7:30 PM Never! Ashley, Llambias, Wise, Jimenez and the rest of them should be rounded up and thrown from the top of the Tyne Bridge.
Oct 28, 2009 7:37 PM I will forgive him for giving BSA (Big Sam Allardyce) a chance when few of us would, and also for getting Kevin back. I never wanted Kevin Keegan back yet again, and yes Kevin, I am fed up with you: not again.
Oct 28, 2009 8:08 PM It's his fault we were demoted, his fault we've lost many of our best players (in terms of talent and value for money e.g. Bassong), and his fault we remain the soap opera and laughing stock of English football.
Oct 28, 2009 8:23 PM What Ashley has inflicted on this club goes much deeper then promotion and relegation
Oct 28, 2009 8:27 PM how can you forgive a liar
Oct 28, 2009 8:28 PM He's an idiot. If Newcastle are promoted it will be in spite of Ashley
Oct 28, 2009 8:31 PM no its his fault were in this mess
Oct 28, 2009 8:43 PM too much instability...too many unpopular appointments.
Oct 28, 2009 8:43 PM I dont like that gentleman
Oct 28, 2009 8:51 PM If he does spend a lot in January it will go some way to healing the rift with fans. But we need to spend big if we go up or we'll be another Hull or West Brom where surviving the drop is the only objective for the season. We are a joke at the minute and its up to Ashley to turn it around.
Oct 28, 2009 8:57 PM He has no respect for the fans or the city, I just want him gone, the sooner the better. He is a proven lier, a dodgy businessman, as we speak being investigated by the office of fair trading for price fixing.
Oct 28, 2009 9:05 PM Because he continues to make mistakes and alienate himself from the fans!
Oct 28, 2009 9:20 PM never,,, the man is not to be trusted
Oct 28, 2009 9:30 PM NO
Oct 28, 2009 9:33 PM Since Ashley arrived at Newcastle he has been a disaster the appointment on Dennis Wise and his other cronies from the South of England was crazy, his treatment of Kevin keegan was appalling, and things just went from bad to worse
Oct 28, 2009 9:40 PM it was his useless management that got us relegated, if we were promoted and his leadership continued we would probably come straight back down
Oct 28, 2009 9:45 PM He is not a fit and proper person to run a football club.
Oct 28, 2009 9:47 PM Two ears of turmoil created by a man and his toy.
Oct 28, 2009 10:16 PM It would be in spite of him, not because
Oct 28, 2009 10:18 PM If we get promoted it wll be dispite of Ashley
Oct 28, 2009 10:31 PM He has coused too much trouble to the fans and community. As a very, very strong trade unionist, (Father of the Chapel, Oxford Mail and Times) I know all disputes, war etc. ends with avowed enemies, Germany, Japan, IRA having to talk at the end, but ashley . . . simply no. The expletives are missing on purpose and my swearing when in full flow is pure poetry!
Oct 28, 2009 10:47 PM Ashley has shown a total disrespect for everyone concerned with Newcastle United Football Club and the the people of the North East and Newcastle.
Oct 28, 2009 11:03 PM Yes. Imagine this - he apologises, he reaches out to the people, the club gets promoted, he pumps more money, he brings back Shearer - he completely rehabilitates himself. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance.
Oct 28, 2009 11:21 PM If we get promoted (and its a big if) it will be in spite of him not because of him. In anycase it was his fault we went down in the first place.
Oct 28, 2009 11:33 PM Keep up the good work mike from all at sunderland
Oct 28, 2009 11:35 PM It was his fault we got relegated due to the mistakes he made in the running of the club
Oct 29, 2009 12:00 AM NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER.NEVER
Oct 29, 2009 12:12 AM Never.
Oct 29, 2009 12:22 AM As it stands he has to date done nothing to assist that supposition and my comment in question 7 will be borne out if once again he does nothing to strengthen the team in January. Its not the best time to spend but what choice do we have. If he does and does it wisely and we do regain promotion he needs to be saying now that he will spend again in the summer to sustain our premiership status, sadly to date this has not been his modus operendi so I do not think I would get the chance to forgive him.
Oct 29, 2009 12:32 AM too late
Oct 29, 2009 12:35 AM He should never have let the club get to the situation last season that brought about our relegation.
Oct 29, 2009 12:45 AM he will never be forgiven as he does'nt understand what has angered the fans, if he were chairman of spurs he would be just as hated.thank you.
Oct 29, 2009 1:10 AM No, never.
Oct 29, 2009 3:14 AM He got therm there
Oct 29, 2009 4:33 AM what he has done to the Club, the players and the past management structure is inexcusable, he is quite simply, a poor excuse for a man who claims to have the interests of the Club and its supporters at heart.
Oct 29, 2009 6:35 AM Never
Oct 29, 2009 7:42 AM just want him out !!!!
Oct 29, 2009 8:12 AM never
Oct 29, 2009 8:19 AM The situation is so unlikely that the problem wn't arise. If it did then this squad wouldn't survive in the Premiership and Ashley has shown no willingness to invest in new players. He's not rich enough to own a major football club
Oct 29, 2009 8:25 AM If we get promoted it will have nothing to do with Mike Ashley. He has just put us through the second worst period that I can remember (next to when we were nearly relegated into the old third divsion under the McKeag regime)
Oct 29, 2009 8:41 AM no never in a million years the only way we would get him out is a total boycott of SJP i will never set foot inside SJP as long as he is in control
Oct 29, 2009 8:50 AM Never he burned his bridges are far as I'm concerned
Oct 29, 2009 8:59 AM I would still want him to go - after the shocking decisions he has made and continuosly dragging the name of the club down
Oct 29, 2009 9:00 AM still want him out! no trust there..
Oct 29, 2009 9:07 AM He will never be forgiven!!
Oct 29, 2009 9:13 AM Objectivly, it is not a case of whether to forgive or not. If promoted the best thing would be for him to sell, and bring in a buyer with the best interest of the club at heart.
Oct 29, 2009 9:13 AM Fucking el, how come this question even made the questionnaire?
Oct 29, 2009 9:24 AM Never. He has brought disgrace and shame to both the club and the city.
Oct 29, 2009 9:25 AM never in a million years,he should be hung drawn and quartered
Oct 29, 2009 9:29 AM he will never be forgiven for making us a laughing stock
Oct 29, 2009 9:31 AM We can't recover and move forward until he goes.
Oct 29, 2009 9:42 AM Us Geordies are like elephants, (we never forget), and we will never forgive, after all, he is largely to blame for the lack of investment, the manager turmoil etc that got us relagated.
Oct 29, 2009 9:48 AM Please GO
Oct 29, 2009 9:48 AM Please GO
Oct 29, 2009 9:49 AM Its not his mistakes which are no worse than Shepherd but his dishonesty with Keegan and Wise - you cannot trust him. What is the point of FA's "fit and proper person" to own a club if this passes their radar?
Oct 29, 2009 9:49 AM Yes.so he can get his asking price ,then disappear for good
Oct 29, 2009 10:02 AM Mike Ashley has made mistakes and he should be given a chance to prove he has the club at heart.
Oct 29, 2009 10:04 AM As a businessman he has made some very bad decisions and nothing he has done to-date has shown that he has the real interests of the fans at heart. NUFC has been used by previous directors to further there own causes and this goes a long way back in time.
Oct 29, 2009 10:08 AM He should not have let the situation deteriorate as it did in the first place which led to relegation.
Oct 29, 2009 10:14 AM No future with this destroyer
