A brace from striker Dan Taylor saw Newcastle United’s Under-18s bounce back from their FA Youth Cup semi-final defeat against Aston Villa.
Taylor struck in the second and 13th minute, with Sammy Ameobi also on target in a strong first-half performance at Little Benton.
Bolton pulled a goal back in injury time as United returned to winning ways at home to cement third spot in the FA Premier Academy Group table.
Taylor headed home Conor Newton’s free-kick for the opener, before he lifted the ball over Bolton keeper Jay Lynch to double the Magpies’ advantage.
United were well on top, though Jack Sampson hit the home bar from a free-kick before the home side made sure of all three points.
Ameobi cut in from the right, but Lynch should have done better than allow the striker’s shot to beat him at his near post.
Bolton’s stoppage-time goal was no more than a consolation as United recorded a third consecutive FA Premier Academy win.
