HARIS Vuckic scored his first goals of the season as Newcastle came from behind to beat Huddersfield Town.
The Slovenia Under-19 skipper was making his first reserve-team outing of the season having suffered serious knee and ankle injuries whilst on international duty in September.
But it was the visitors, under the stewardship of former Magpie Paul Stephenson, who seized the lead inside two minutes; Jack Hunt beating Jak Alnwick and his near post.
Chris Hughton was in the stands at Whitley Park having jumped off the first-team bus just one hour earlier after a return trip from Plymouth.
And the United boss would have been impressed with the goal which drew the hosts level on six minutes; Vuckic collecting a long ball forward before bursting clear and clinically finishing.
Shane Ferguson’s deep corner just short of the half-hour mark allowed Paul Dummett to smash home.
Vuckic made it three with a tap-in from Wesley Ngo Baheng’s goalbound shot on 52 minutes and Callum Morris gratefully fired home a fourth. Academy striker Phil Airey completed the rout.
