NEWCASTLE United returned to winning ways following last week’s defeat against Crewe with a 2-0 FA Premier Academy League win at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Goalscoring midfielder Brad Inman took his tally for the season to an impressive 15 with a goal in each half.
Coach Willie Donachie was delighted his side had continued its impressive away form, the young guns now unbeaten in 12 games on the road.
He said: “It was a very professional performance, and hopefully we can continue the good run until the end of the season.
“Wolves came back at us in the second half but we managed to match them. With a two-legged FA Youth Cup semi-final coming up we are getting stronger and stronger.”
A Conor Newton break from midfield saw him place a diagonal ball into the path of Inman, who fired home the 15th-minute opener.
Striker Phil Airey twice went close to doubling the lead, hitting the post, but goalkeeper Jak Alnwick was kept busy after the interval.
As Wolves continued to press, Inman made the game safe in the last minute.
Newcastle substitutes Aaron Spear and Dan Taylor combined to supply Inman, who again finished clinically.
