NUFC boss Chris Hughton happy with a point

“You always know they are going to put you under a certain amount of pressure, but you have to be able to soak up that pressure and hope to score goals at the other end.
“The fact we have scored two goals and not won the game – by our standards that is disappointing.” Hughton has been preaching the need to avoid complacency since the start of the campaign and felt Wednesday’s performance – and his team’s inability to consolidate their lead – was further proof the Championship is a difficult division.
He added: “In the cold light of day, we know we have no God-given right to win any football match in this division.
“We need certain elements to go with us – either we are playing well enough or the opposition are not playing well enough – but that is not going to happen every week.
“It takes a lot to win a football match, and we have not had any easy games from the word go.
“The lads know they have to be at it every game to get results.
“Fortunately, we have had more days where we have been at it than where we have not.”
The United manager was disappointed with the decision to allow O’Connor’s goal, which followed a challenge by Luke Varney on Steve Harper Hughton felt was a clear foul.
He was in agreement with Sheffield Wednesday’s caretaker boss Sean McAuley on the point that Harper had been fouled but United had the rub of the green earlier when Ameobi’s goal was not chalked off for offside.
Hughton said: “I have seen both incidents since, and I can understand why they would feel aggrieved with Shola’s goal.”
