TWO open events will be held later this month as part of a drive to recruit more retained firefighters to serve in Berwick and Wooler.

The sessions, which will allow local men and women to find out more about what the role involves, are at Berwick fire station in Ord Road on Sunday, February 12, from noon-4pm and at the Wooler Station in South Road on Thursday, February 23, from 6.30-8.30pm.

On-call firefighters are paid a fee of between £1,587 and £2,821 a year.
