POLICE are appealing for information following a failed attempt to steal a vehicle and a trailer full of scrap metal from a site in Berwick.

At 11.14pm on Friday police received a report of intruders breaking into the Glendale Engineering site in Wooler and attempting to steal a trailer full of scrap metal from inside the yard.

Police believe the thieves must have been disturbed as they fled the site empty handed leaving a DAF arctic truck at the scene. It was found to have been stolen from the Lincoln area and was displaying false plates stolen from Humberside.
