VISITORS to a Northumberland agricultural show are being offered a free health check-up.
The Stroke Association will be on hand to give advice and offer blood pressure tests at the Glendale Agricultural Show, in Wooler, on August 30.
Louise Hedley, from the Stroke Association North East said: “As Glendale is the largest agricultural show in Northumberland, we are using the opportunity to raise awareness of stroke and provide valuable information about how it can be prevented and the types of free services we offer in the North East.
“We will also be offering free blood pressure readings. Recent studies have shown that farmers in particular are susceptible to increased stress, which can lead to increased blood pressure.
“This is due to factors such as escalating costs, more competition, long hours working in isolation and the pressure to meet deadlines quickly.
“Our stand is open to any stressed farmers and show visitors who want information”
The team hopes to carry out more than 100 tests throughout the day.
