Seaton Delaval man charged with burglary in Ashington

A MAN has been charged with two counts of burglary after police investigated reports of bogus caller incidents in Ashington.

On Wednesday morning, a report was received from a woman in Nelson Close that a man had gained entry to her home and tried to claim money for delivering coal. A check with the coal supplier confirmed the man did not work for them.

The same morning, officers received a report of a man trying to get into a woman’s house in the same street by claiming to be buying and selling milk tokens.

Enquiries were carried out which led to the arrest of Christopher Lee Scott, 21, of Seaton Delaval. He was later charged with two counts of burglary with intent to steal. He was due to appear before Bedlington magistrates yesterday.
