Charity cyclists protect their property at Seaton Sluice

CYCLISTS took time out from a charity bike ride to keep their wheels safe from thieves.
Officers from Northumbria Police’s Blyth Neighbourhood Policing Team hosted a bike marking event at Seaton Sluice Beach, which took place alongside the 10-mile charity Bailey’s Bike Ride.
More than 40 bikes were security marked while cyclists were also given advice on how to keep their bikes safe.
Northumbria Police Crime Prevention Adviser Sandra Killeen said: “The day was a success, and everyone who had their bikes marked will help us to stamp out thefts of this nature.
“Security marking your bike with your house number and postcode means stolen bikes can be traced back to their rightful owners.
“It only takes a second for a bike to be stolen, but there are simple steps that can be taken to deter thieves.”
