A GRANDMOTHER who plunged to her death from a cliff in the midst of the weekend’s storms has been named.
Christine Anne Craven, 59, was from Leeds and is believed to have been on holiday in Seahouses, Northumberland, when she fell from the coastal path at North Sunderland Point on Saturday.
She is understood to have been walking with her family, including her two young grandchildren, when she fell.
She landed on rocks 30ft below the cliff-top path, which runs along the edge of Seahouses Golf Club.
Emergency crews including helicopters from the Great North Air Ambulance and RAF Boulmer were scrambled to the scene, but stood down after it emerged desperate efforts to save her life had failed.
The North Northumberland Coroner opened and adjourned an inquest into the death yesterday. A postmortem has already been held, which found her injuries were consistent with a fall.
