BUSINESSES in a Northumberland village have taken matters into their own hands to ensure a busy summer.
Shops at Belford have produced a leaflet in order to attract visitors into the village.
Nell Atkin, owner of Belford Craft Gallery, said: “It hardly seems possible in this beautiful weather, but some of North Northumberland’s villages are still waiting for summer visitors.
“Rather than complaining about lack of official help, traders in Belford have collectively agreed not to wait for the powers that be to help the pretty, but quiet, village out, and so have gone ahead and paid for printing their own glossy leaflet.”
