A NEW farm shop opened in North Northumberland at the weekend, creating 12 local jobs and hoping to promote Northumbrian produce.
Sunnyhills opened in Belford. With a team of 12 staff, it is run by Andrew Young and general manager Claire Cathro.
It features a delicatessen, greengrocers, gift shop, children’s play area and 50-seat restaurant.
Andrew said he hopes to provide the service of local farm produce for residents and the many holidaymakers, weekenders and travellers who use the village as a stopping off point.
Claire, who has recently relocated to the North East from working in a Scottish smokery, said: “I am delighted to be involved from the outset in the opening of this is a very exciting project. In addition to having TR Johnson of Wooler as our resident butcher, we are working with some fantastic suppliers. My aim is for Sunnyhills of Belford to become recognised as one of the leading culinary destinations in the North East.”
