MILITARY vehicle enthusiasts and spectators gathered together yesterday for a day of high-revving engines and manoeuvres.
The event, held just outside of Ponteland, saw a Challenger tank, armoured personnel carriers and other assorted military vehicles on display.
Organiser Richard Wilson said: “The vehicles have been locked up in storage for around a year and this was an opportunity to get them out for the public to see them in action.
“We had around 40 spectators turn up on the day to see the vehicles, including a 95-year-old veteran who served in the Tank Cops during the war.”
As well as the Chieftain Tank – which was built at Vickers – there was a tracked armoured vehicle launch bridge vehicle, a tracked Combat Engineer Tractor as well as older armoured personnel carriers and a modern Pinzgauer APC.
