Amateur photographs of Northumberland wanted

AMATEUR photographers are being invited to submit snaps for a competition which has been launched to support an environmental campaign in Northumberland.

The county council-organised LOVE Northumberland – Caring for our County campaign aims to protect and enhance the natural beauty and charms of the area.

The photo competition involves photographers sending in pictures which they believe capture their favourite things about Northumberland.

It is hoped the contest will help raise awareness of what is great about the natural environment, historic charms and picturesque communities across the county, which the LOVE campaign is seeking to safeguard.

Entrants can upload their best shots to the county council’s Facebook page in a contest for a first prize of £50 worth of garden centre vouchers.

Coun Isabel Hunter, executive member responsible for infrastructure and the environment, said: “We are really looking forward to seeing photos that show what residents feel is the very best about our county.

“These could be anything from an iconic place like Bamburgh Castle or Hadrian’s Wall, to a view from someone’s favourite walk or favourite picnic site.”

To enter post your photo to the Northumberland Facebook wall and tag yourself in the picture at www.facebook.com/NorthumberlandCC. Entrants must provide details saying they support the campaign at www.northumberland.gov.uk/lovephoto

You can also email pictures and details to communications@northumberland.gov.uk The closing date is March 31.
