Northumbria Police share knowledge of wildlife crime

A NEW website is setting out to educate the public on wildlife crime.

Northumbria Police will be sharing their enhanced knowledge of wildlife crime on the new page on the force’s website.

It will offer a wealth of wildlife information and details of how people can get in touch with specialised officers.

Don Churchill, wildlife coordinator at the force, said: “Northumbria Police ensures all wildlife crimes are investigated thoroughly. Wildlife crime can take many forms, from familiar offences like poaching, badger baiting, killing or disturbing protected species and breaches of the Hunting Act, to less familiar crimes like trading in endangered species and products derived from them.

“The new web pages will give people the opportunity to find out more, how we deal with it and what they can do to help prevent it.”
