A BRASS band is hoping to get people into the festive mood when it plays a Christmas concert in Northumberland this weekend.

The Jayess Newbiggin-by-the-Sea band will perform in the town’s Salvation Army Hall on Front Street at 7pm tomorrow when everyone is welcome.

The band takes its name from the initials of renowned local cornet player James Shepherd, who is its president.
