FIFTEEN new jobs are set to be created in a Northumberland town with another new addition to its flagship shopping centre.
British designer fashion brand Hobbs is to open a store at Morpeth’s award-winning Sanderson Arcade development in March. Established in 1981, the company launched its first boutique in Hampstead, initially specialising in Italian crafted footwear.
It is now an international retailer, with more than 100 stores in the UK and its own in-house creative design team.
Its Morpeth store will be in a 940sqft unit along the arcade’s Edwardian-style gallery, and will bring a further 15 jobs to the town. Fitting out starts next month.
The move is one of a number of changes at the arcade, which also include the boutique chocolate shop Curiously Wicked expanding following its successful opening in November last year.
Hobbs will move into the former Lemon premises, with that business relocating to Newgate Street.
Sanderson Arcade manager, Medi Parry said the centre is delighted to be welcoming another high quality retailer in Hobbs.
“We know the company is very keenly focussed on customer service which is something we are also passionate about. We know from customer feedback that they are keen to see those classic and timeless brands like Hobbs here.”
