POLICE patrols have been stepped up in Morpeth as part of a force-wide operation.
Local officers welcomed an additional sergeant and eight constables from Operation Gideon to the beat to provide high-profile policing.
Morpeth Inspector Alison Best said: “The intention was to enforce the parking regulations in Morpeth town centre, to reduce anti-social behaviour and disorder, to provide reassurance to the public and to gather intelligence and information to assist the Morpeth policing team in dealing with identified problems.”
