ANGLERS who have helped to monitor fish populations in the Tyne have been rewarded for their efforts.

Each year, the Environment Agency runs a prize draw for anglers taking part in the River Tyne Angler Logbook Scheme for salmon and sea trout.

The latest winners are Peter Austin, from Wantage, Oxfordshire, who won a 14ft Clearwater Salmon rod; Chris Richardson from Oakwood, Hexham, Northumberland, who won a Gordon 2 Fly rod; and Walter Burtle from Cramlington, Northumberland.
