A MAN has been arrested by police after a device was discovered on a cash point machine in Northumberland.
Officers were alerted last Saturday when a number of people reported that the machine in Westgate, Haltwhistle was not dispensing money.
They found that a device had been attached which prevented people from drawing out their cash.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing and a 33-year-old local man was arrested and released on bail. Dt Chf Insp Peter Reeve, of Northumberland Area Command, said: “We want to alert people to be on their guard when using cash point machines.
“If anyone has any concerns that the machine they are about to use could have been tampered with, they should report it to the bank or store immediately.”
