A TOTAL of 700 bookings set a new record for a walking festival.
Organisers of the Haltwhistle Spring Walking Festival in Northumberland say that local bed and breakfast accommodation benefited from an additional 150 nights from visitors.
A “singing walk” and a ramble which skirted the former Blue Streak rocket base at Spadeadam were so popular that bookings had to be closed. The next festival runs from October 8-16. For details visit www.haltwhistlewalkingfestival.org
