The 54-year-old homeowner heard a noise coming from the kitchen of her home in the Ryal Close area of Blyth at 1.30pm on Monday.

The intruder is described as being in his late teens or early 20s, around 5ft 5ins and wearing grey jogging bottoms and a black jacket.
Police are urging residents to keep their doors and windows locked when leaving the house, and have also suggested families should consider securing doors and windows even while in the home.
Officers have issued an appeal for information in relation to the offence.
