Teenage girls deny murder of Christopher Chapman

TWO teenage girls have pleaded not guilty to the murder of a Northumberland man found fatally wounded near his home.

Megan Hope, 18, and a 16-year-old girl who cannot be named for legal reasons are alleged to have murdered Christopher Chapman, who died in April from a stab wound to his torso.

Mr Chapman was found bleeding from the wound outside the block of flats in Blyth where he lived.

A trial date has been fixed for October and the pair were further remanded in custody.

The pair are jointly charged with the murder of Mr Chapman on April 19, which they deny.

The 24-year-old victim, of Windmill Grove, Cowpen, in Blyth, was found bleeding from a wound to the torso outside the Windmill Grove flats in the early hours of the morning.

He was taken to Wansbeck Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Hope, 18, of Rosalind Street in Ashington, and the 16-year-old girl, who is from Blyth, will be back at court for their trial on October 17.
