BERWICK suffered a surprise defeat in their opening match in the reorganised East League Division One, going down to Forrester in Edinburgh.
It was a game the Blacks had been expected to win but they never looked like overturning the hosts 15-5 interval advantage.
To add to the visitors’ gloom, Stuart Cockburn was sent off early in the second half after picking up a second yellow card.
The Scremerston side’s points came from tries by Douglas and Black, with Webster converting one.
The home side ran in four tries, adding two conversions and a penalty.
