A HOLIDAYMAKER had to be evacuated by helicopter off Holy Island after falling ill. The woman, in her 30s, was staying in the Seahouses area of Northumberland on holiday and had gone with a group to visit Lindisfarne.

The ambulance service contacted the Coastguard to see if the causeway was open, and because it wasn’t, the RAF Boulmer helicopter was dispatched to take her to Wansbeck General Hospital.
