PEOPLE in a Northumberland town are being invited to join a new weekly club offering friendship and social activities.
St Bede’s Open House in Bedlington, which has been launched by a partnership between local charity St Cuthbert’s Care and the town’s St Bede’s Catholic Church, is promising a warm welcome, good company and activities such as bingo and quizzes.
Parish priest Father Christopher Hughes and a team of volunteers will host the first Open House evening at the church hall on September 13. The club will be held every Tuesday after that from 6pm to 8pm. Local people are invited to come along for refreshments, a chat with others and to make new friends.
Father Hughes said: “Open House is a place where people will experience a warm welcome and a place where friendships will be created and sustained.”
Kathleen Urwin from St Cuthbert’s Care added: “This really is a fantastic project and we were delighted to help Father Hughes and his parishioners get the Open House up and running.”
