POLICE are urging residents to keep doors and windows locked following a spate of burglaries.
Thieves got into a number of homes in Northumberland via insecure doors and windows at the weekend.
Between 1.30am and 4.30am on Saturday, a mobile phone, cash and a hi-fi system were stolen when crooks sneaked into a house in Gladstone Terrace, Bedlington, through an unlocked patio door.
Then between midnight and 7am on Sunday thieves got into a house in Parkside Court through an unlocked door.
They stole a Toshiba laptop, a digital camera and two mobile phones.
Officers are advising all residents to ensure that their doors and windows are secure.
