A NORTH East man has handed over £400 to a hospital cancer unit.
Mark Hindhaugh, 37, of Blyth decided to do the Keswick to Barrow walk to raise money for Wansbeck Hospital’s cancer unit.
The dad-of-two was blown away by the care his 80-year-old grandmother Mary received when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year. He handed over the £400 cheque to his grandmother’s link nurse Dawn and oncology nurses Fiona and Zoe with the help of his two daughters 11-year-old Macy and Mia, nine.
Mark took on the challenge but just three miles short of finishing the 40-mile walk in Cumbria, he tore a muscle in his calf after having just recovered from the injury previously.
