PEOPLE in Ashington are being offered the chance to beat the thieves by getting their property security marked at a crime prevention event organised by Northumbria Police.

On Saturday February 4 between 10am and 2pm residents can come along to North Seaton Community Centre and have their belongings marked by the neighbourhood policing team using special UV pens.

Cyclists are also encouraged to bring their bikes.
