Duchess to join Ashington Remembrance Day parade

THE Duchess of Northumberland will join ex-servicemen, town councillors and civic dignitaries when she attends Ashington’s annual Remembrance Day parade and service on Sunday.

The parade will set off from the Royal British Legion’s HQ in North Seaton Road at 10.30am and make its way via Station Road to the ceremony at the war memorial in the Library Gardens on Kenilworth Road.

It will be led by Wansbeck’s Ashington Colliery Brass Band and the Duchess, the Lord Lieutenant of the county, will march alongside local members of the Legion and war veterans.

Roads along the route will be closed to traffic from 9.45am until noon.
