TEN-TRY Alnwick destroyed Sunderland with a second-half burst, scoring 42 points in a 20-minute spell in the second half.
They led 26-7 at the interval with tries from Gray, Massey and two from captain Andrew Shell. Sunderland captain Wordsworth was driven over for the visitors’ reply and Francis converted.
In the second Shell completed his hat-trick, backs Moralee and Massey scored but the forwards also got on the scoresheet, through No 8 Ellis and wing forward Gordon Smith with a brace. Full-back Bird converted nine out of ten.
