A MAN died after an accident at a Northumberland quarry at the weekend.
The 58-year-old was driving an excavator machine at Longhoughton Quarry near Alnwick on Saturday afternoon. The machine went into a hole which filled with water.
Paramedics brought the man out and he was taken to Wansbeck General Hospital by crew from RAF Boulmer.
He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The Health and Safety Executive are investigating the incident at the quarry on Longhoughton Road, Lesbury
Police hadn’t released the man’s name last night.
