VILLAGERS were celebrating after they managed to save their local post office.
Residents in Lesbury, near Alnwick, were shocked when their branch was temporarily closed last December.
The post office’s future looked uncertain but villagers fought to retain the vital service.
It has now been announced that the branch will re-open on June 20.
MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed Sir Alan Beith said: “I have been working with Coun Roger Styring and know how much effort has been put into finding a solution for Lesbury.
“I am delighted the post office will be re-opening and look forward to continuing to use it.
“I am sure the community will be glad to have the service back in place.”
