The Journal
THE Journal has launched an exciting new service for the people of Northumberland - and we want you to be a part of it.
Your Place is a series of 22 local websites bringing localised news to every town and village in Northumberland.
As well as regular articles from our existing district reporters and a new team of specialised website writers, we want people in Northumberland to log on and become community correspondents for the areas where they live.
Journal editor Brian Aitken says: “Northumberland has always been The Journal's heartland - that close relationship was evident when we sponsored the Northumberland County Show and when we held our Taste event at Linden Hall.
"We want to remain Northumberland’s local paper and the microsites will mean that we can offer an even better service to our readers in the county, both online and in print.
"Every microsite is based around news, sport and other features from the local areas where people live. There are great links to useful information, including the latest on roadworks, blood donation sessions, important contact numbers and weather.
"The microsites also provide a great opportunity for people to get involved in community journalism, whether it's telling us what's happening within their club, sharing the news from their school or church, or becoming the microsite correspondent for their village."
If you are interested in becoming a correspondent for your community or want to supply news for your club or society, a church or school, contact Northumberland editor Graeme Whitfield on (0191) 201-6262 or email northumberland@ncjmedia.co.uk.
