Your change to nominate a Great North runner!

TIME is running out for readers to nominate unsung heroes of the Great North Run.

Race organisers Nova are once again holding their Hall of Fame Charity Dinner in the run up to this year’s half marathon.

And we are asking readers who they think should be recognised when The Journal’s Bupa Great North Run Award is presented at the star-studded evening next month.

Entering could win people the chance to attend the glittering Hall of Fame ceremony, which will be held at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton on April 9.

The winner will receive The Journal’s Bupa Great North Run Award, presented by the paper’s editor, Brian Aitken.

Previous winners of our award include teenage cancer survivor Michael Ready, from Lobley Hill, Gateshead, who won the award for his bravery in the face of extreme illness.

Brian Aitken said: “I’m delighted that we will once again be a part of the Hall of Fame celebrations. Our Great North Run Award is a great way to honour the unsung heroes who capture the inspirational spirit of the event.”

David Hart, communications director at race organisers Nova International, said: “The Bupa Great North Run is Britain’s biggest running event and thousands of people have truly inspiring reasons for their journey to the start line.

“We are delighted that The Journal highlights some of the remarkable stories behind local people taking part.”

To make a nomination, all you need to do is get in touch. Testimonials can be about yourself, or someone you feel deserves a place at the Bupa Great North Run Hall of Fame Charity Dinner.

Send your entry, including a daytime phone number, to Kim Swan, The Journal, Groat Market, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 1ED, or email kim.swan@ncjmedia.co.uk. The closing date is noon tomorrow.
