PUPILS got language lessons from two unusual teachers yesterday, Newcastle United stars Jonas Gutierrez and Sylvain Marveaux.
The Magpies went into Newcastle School for Boys to pass on some of their skills.
But this time it was their ability in Spanish and French that the children wanted to experience.
The pair enjoyed sitting in on the boys’ language lessons in the Gosforth school, and then answered questions that the pupils had prepared in the players’ native tongue.
The students asked them about their lives in the North East and about their playing careers, all in French and Spanish.
Mr Marveaux said: “Some gave me good questions with good French and some I think have more work to do, but it was a good start.
“I always like speaking English so I was quite happy when I was learning.
“It’s good for me because I understand people and I can speak so it’s important for them to learn different languages.”
