A MOTHER has appealed for help in tracing a motorist who left her teenage son lying on a pavement after knocking him off his bike.

Nathan Haslam, 13, was riding his bike on a pavement just a mile from his home in Sunnybrow, Willington, Crook, County Durham, when he was sent flying by a reversing car.

His mother Marie said Nathan, who had been out with his friends, managed to crawl across the footpath to a wall and haul himself up.

The 31-year-old mother of four said yesterday: “The three people in the car would have seen him covered in blood.

“He said they were three teenage lads. “He could see them in the car so they must have been able to see him. But instead of stopping to help him they just drove off.”

Nathan was knocked off his bike in Chapel Street, Hunwick, near Crook, at around 7pm on Sunday.

He was thrown over the handlebars, landing on the pavement and sustained injuries to his face and hands.
