Saltwell Park's success with fairytale display

Saltwell Park

THE festive spirit was flowing last night at a special Christmas show in a picturesque North East park.

It is the fourth year in a row the Enchanted Parks has become a sell-out spectacular in Gateshead’s Saltwell Park.

Running from last night until December 12, this year’s specially-commissioned Gateshead Winter’s Tale event features atmospheric installations, light, sound and performance. Families toured the park and explored a storybook of winter magic, surprise and enchantment.

A Gateshead Fairytale, created by the Left Luggage Theatre company, revisits the traditional fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm.

Carol Bell, head of culture and major events at organiser at the Newcastle Gateshead Initiative, said: “Enchanted Parks captures the imagination of the community, artists and the thousands of people that buy tickets every year.

“This year’s Enchanted Parks is the most ambitious yet and promises to offer a truly magical experience.”

Tickets, free for under-16s and priced £5 for adults, are available by calling 0191 433 6965 or logging on to www.NewcastleGateshead.com/winterfestival
